The purpose of the NFWCOS for Niue is to provide a strategic direction and appropriate actions for the Niue Meteorological Services (NMS) and other key national stakeholders to improve weather, water, climate and ocean services in Niue for the next 5 years. Based on the current services provided by the NMS, the Framework outlines the action plan to support the capacity development to address identified gaps and needs.

a strategy to more effectively engage with, and access resources of, the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

The private sector has been the main driver of economic development in Niue over the last 8 years and is now the largest component of the Niue economy. The key contributor to private sector led development is tourism which is underpinned by Niue’s pristine natural environment as well as strong culture (Tãoga Niue). To a much lesser degree, agriculture is also a key contributor.
